Detailed Information
Eugene Chong serves as the Founder | Principal Counselling Psychologist at Seeding Minds. He also holds the position of adjunct lecturer at various educational institutions that offer accredited psychology and counselling training programs, spanning from Diploma to Master’s levels.

Eugene possesses extensive experience working with youth facing mental health challenges in psychiatric rehabilitation and educational settings. His background includes clinical practice within hospitals and rehabilitation centres, providing both individual counselling and group therapy for individuals diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Depression, and anxiety disorders. He employs diverse psychometric tools to evaluate individuals’ functionality, including those focused on Intelligence, Personality, and Behavioural & Cognitive assessments. His therapeutic approach predominantly embraces post-modern concepts, utilising brief therapeutic interventions grounded in the theories of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Cognitive-Relational Therapy (CTRT). Additionally, he integrates techniques such as Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Ericksonian Hypnosis as deemed appropriate.

Eugene offers two certification courses for participants interested in exploring personality and marital issues. As a seminar director for the Prepare/Enrich Accreditation, he utilises a psychometric instrument designed for couples. Furthermore, he acts as a trainer for the T-JTA couple’s personality profiling. In couples counselling, he applies the Gottman approach, having completed Level 3 training in this methodology. For addressing specific team dynamics and conflict management, as well as career counselling, he employs the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the DISC assessment as effective tools for guiding teams toward resolution. He also conducts mental wellness seminars across various organisations, including corporate, educational, and religious institutions, and serves as an associate consultant with Workplace Options, HMI Institute of Health Sciences, Health Can Be Fun, and Optum.

In addition to his clinical work, Eugene played a pivotal role in establishing the Hope Counselling Services under Hope Centre (Singapore) and has previously held positions as a counselling overseer at Hope Church Singapore. He is a founding member and commits to serving on the committee of the Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors Singapore (APACS) and has previously been an ex-board member of Family Life First (FLF). As a full member of the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) and an International Member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), he is also affiliated with APACS-L4S and serves as a registered supervisor with both ACA and APACS.
